Online retailers including Shein, Temu, AliExpress and Wish are now facing scrutiny in France for the charge of allowing underage individuals to obtain adult content on their platforms, the prosecutor's office in Paris stated on this Tuesday.

The country's regulatory body had flagged the companies to the judicial system on this past Sunday after expressing concerns about the availability of minor-looking sex dolls on Shein's platform over the weekend.

The investigative authorities explained that the websites are being looked into over violent, explicit or unacceptable messages that can be accessed by young people.

One of the platforms stated that it considers the matter very seriously. The other retailers have also been approached for their perspective.

Wider Probes and Company Statements

Shein and AliExpress are additionally being examined over the spread of content related to children that are of a explicit character, the authorities said.

The cases have been handed over to the French minor protection office, the prosecution service explained. This office is an section of the national police that manages the protection of underage individuals.

The platform asserted that the products in question violated its guidelines and were taken down once it became aware of them.

"Vendors discovered to break or seeking to bypass these standards will be penalised in line with our guidelines," the company said in a statement.

On Monday, the company said it had banned the marketing of any sex dolls on its marketplace worldwide. The based in Singapore retailer also mentioned that it would terminate all vendor profiles related to the prohibited sale of the childlike dolls and implement more rigorous safeguards on its platform.

Agency Observations and Wider Scenario

The regulatory authority, the DGCCRF, had stated that the sex dolls' product information and grouping left "little doubt as to the child pornography nature" of the merchandise.

The examination of the retailer coincides with the business, which was founded in the People's Republic of China, prepares for the inauguration on Wednesday of its first long-term physical store in the French Republic.

Demonstrators have been observed assembled in outside the Paris shop where Shein is planned to open the store.

Shein aims to open shops in other France's shopping centers in cities including these regional hubs.
